Complimentary Exam
Your first visit to our office will be a free exam for you or your child. Facial and teeth photos and X-rays will also be complementary. Dr. Dhutia will carefully examine the teeth, as well as facial growth and balance, and look for a wide range of possible orthodontic problems, such as crowding, cross-bite, spacing, tongue and lip habits, and overbite. If treatment is necessary and you or your child are ready for treatment, Dr. Dhutia will discuss treatment options and the time required for ideal and stable results. One of our knowledgeable treatment coordinators will review financials, payment options, as well as any insurance benefits and answer all questions you may have. If your child is not ready for treatment or does not need treatment, which does sometimes happen, we will offer to place your child under our complimentary observation system. This is also a free service where we will monitor growth at 6 to 12 month increments to determine the ideal time to begin treatment.
In most cases, if you wish, we are able to complete records and place appliances on the same day. We know your time is valuable and we want to eliminate the burden of multiple appointments as much as possible.
Records Appointment
After your complimentary exam, records are then made to determine the best course of treatment. Most of the records will have been done at the consultation appointment, an additional x-ray and study models of the teeth will complete the diagnostic records. This information is used to develop a custom treatment plan that addresses the unique needs of each patient. These records are also helpful in tracking the progress of treatment as the teeth move under orthodontic care.
Initial Banding Appointment
After the Records Appointment, we will be ready to place your new appliances. This appointment usually takes about one hour. The teeth will be cleaned and prepped and Dr. Dhutia will place the brackets. After placement, you will watch a 5 minutes video on how to brush and floss, as well as foods that are safe to eat with braces and foods to avoid. One of our experienced Orthodontic Assistants will review oral hygiene instructions and you will receive special tools to help keep your teeth and gums healthy, and braces clean.
Regular Appointments
Once appliances have been placed you’ll then see us at regular intervals four to eight weeks apart for an adjustment, which takes about 20 minutes. These appointments can be done any time during the week. We also have extended office hours during the week to accommodate after school appointments.
